about the project

Mamma’s Scrapbook invites mothers and their children (aged 0–4) into a calming, nurturing space to connect through creative making, nature, and shared stories. The project uses sensory arts, natural materials, reflective writing, and gentle group practices to support wellbeing, ease isolation, and foster community. Each session gently explores the senses — sight, touch, sound, smell, taste, and interoception — as a way to open up creative expression, conversation and connection.

While deeply therapeutic in nature, Mamma’s Scrapbook is not clinical therapy. Instead, it offers a non-judgemental, inclusive space where mothers are welcomed exactly as they are, without the need to label or diagnose. The process is led by experienced, trauma-informed practitioners who combine lived experience with professional training in ecotherapy, inclusive arts, mental health, and forest school practice.

what we do

Each session includes:

Circle introductions & grounding meditation

Nature-based sensory practices & crafts (e.g. natural dyeing, lavender bundles, herb binding, clay work, nature playdough, flower printing, natural pigment making, and scrapbooking)

Reflective writing & gentle story prompts

Group sharing & connection

Closing grounding & check-ins

Through this process, mothers create both personal scrapbooks and contribute to a collective mixed-media installation, weaving together individual and shared stories. The project encourages creative freedom, sensory exploration, and peer support.
