Mamma’s scrapbook: A sensory storytelling project

Mamma’s Scrapbook is a nature-led sensory storytelling project for mothers and their young children, creating space to reconnect, share lived experiences, and build community through creative practice. Set in the natural environments of Stanmer Park and Whitehawk Orchard, the project gently weaves together ecotherapy, inclusive arts, forest school, and sensory crafts to support wellbeing, reduce isolation, and foster belonging. Participants explore sight, sound, touch, and other senses through natural art-making, reflective writing, and group conversation, creating personal and collective stories rooted in nature’s rhythms.

Led by experienced, trauma informed practitioners with both lived and professional experience in maternal mental health, neurodivergence, and creative wellbeing, Mamma’s Scrapbook offers mothers a safe, supportive and creative space to process, connect, and create. The project culminates in beautiful mixed media installations and personal scrapbooks, celebrating each mother’s unique journey while strengthening peer support and long-lasting community connection.
